March 27th, 2024 is a day I will never forget.

As the judge put it, it’s the day Alijah became our son.

When we started this adoption journey we knew we wanted an open adoption. We wanted to build a relationship with our child’s biological parents so we had some reassurance and create a healthy environment for him. We wanted him to know where he came from and to create that environment for him. Even Declynn says mommy I came from your tummy and Alijah came from his mommy’s tummy and she loved him so much he got to be with us.

This week his biological mom reached out to us for the first time. She just wasn’t ready before that. As we slowly start building that relationship and navigating the way God intended, I want to thank her for choosing us. I want to thank God for putting her and his biological father into our lives. Because if they didn’t, this day wouldn’t have happened.

So I pray for them and their hearts. I pray for us we continue to love on our family of four. Most importantly, I pray for Alijah that he feels the love from both of his families.
